Luxuriate your body and mind with this ultra-calming bath tea.
Lavender is a classic bathing herb, deeply soothing for the nervous system. It is wonderful for anxiety, headache, and sleep troubles. It has potent antiinflammatory properties, making it a good choice for pain relief. The antimicrobial and antifungal actions of lavender can support skin conditions such as itchiness, eczema, and acne.
Chamomile is another soothing herb for both skin and mind. Its antiinflammatory nature is great for menstrual cramps, growing pains, and skin inflammation.
The addition of catnip eases frayed or frazzled nerves and promotes deep peace, and a small amount of peppermint calms sore and painful muscles and headaches.
Super gentle for pregnancy, postpartum (for babies too!), and great throughout the menstrual cycle.
Preparation Suggestions
Place 4 tablespoons in a pot or a large jar (at least 1 litre). Pour boiled water over and cover tightly with a lid. Allow to steep for 30 minutes to 6 hours. Then strain into the bath, adding a couple of cups of magnesium or epsom bath salts, if you wish. I suggest brewing the tea in this way rather than adding it to the bath in a teabag as it makes for a much more medicinally potent soak!
