This adaptogenic herbal coffee is filled with nutritious roots, mushrooms, and berries. It was formulated in my postpartum time when I wanted to reduce coffee intake, and I've tweaked and crafted it over the last couple of years to hit on a blend that will serve you humbly and well, no matter where you are in your lifecycle.
Free of caffeine, it provides a substantial boost to your energy, brain, heart, immune system, skin, and - of course! - your womb. It hits high on liver support, regulates the nervous system and stress response, and supports gut health, hormones, detoxification, and immunity. Loaded with minerals and trace elements, it boosts adrenal function and restores the body. It's the ultimate morning beverage, brimming with warmth and goodness.
The first in the line-up are the roots of Dandelion, Burdock and Chicory. These are most often found in herbal coffees because of the flavour and colour they impart. They're high in inulin - a prebiotic - and effectively cleanse the liver by metabolising toxins and hormones, leading to a more balanced menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or postpartum time.
Now for our adaptogens: Siberian Ginseng boosts energy, vitality and stamina and is one of the best non-caffeinated herbs that Mama Earth supplies. Astragalus deeply protects the immune system and stress response of the body. Ashwagandha and Shatavari balance hormones, improve sleep and anxiety, and ease inflammation and muscle tension. And a small amount of Licorice harmonises the blend and provides additional support for stress and digestion.
Also classed as adaptogens are medicinal mushrooms. This blend contains Reishi, Chaga and Lion's Mane. They help to regulate the body's stress response to external and internal stressors by boosting immunity, regulating pain and inflammation, and reducing brain fog.
Dang Gui, also known as Dong Quai or Chinese Angelica, is a powerful herb for female health. It builds the blood, increases warmth and blood in the womb, and is one of my favourite allies for vitalising and restoring the body after menstruation, during postpartum, or after illness.
Hawthorn berry is a beautiful medicine for the heart, both on a cardiovascular and emotional layer. It eases heart palpitations that may occur in perimenopause or menopause and supports heart health due to sleep loss (hello, mamas!)
Rosehips are incredibly high in vitamin C and immune-boosting antioxidants, and they also help to keep you pooping on the regular!
Cinnamon is added to further harmonise the blend in addition to supplying support for gut health, inflammation, and the immune system.
And, lastly, cacao husks! They're filled with antioxidants and flavonoids, helping to fight cell-damaging free radicals and adding a lovely taste to a very flavour-balanced cuppa.

Preparation Suggestions:
Use 1 tbsp for every cup.
Use the Cauldron Method (below), brew in a coffee pot, decoct lightly for 5-15 minutes, or steep in a French press or as a tea for 15-20 minutes.
The Cauldron Method (decoction): This is how I make it because I drink it everyday. I make a big batch that I heat through each day, which means the herbs keep on giving. Add half the pack (50g) to a large pot, fill to the top with water, and bring to a boil before lowering to a simmer. Decoct for 30 minutes before straining the amount you want into a cup. Leave the rest in the pot and heat until boiling the following morning. Once the pot is half-full, you can add more water, decoct for 20 minutes, and continue as above (only do this once, otherwise it will become too weak). This method gives you about 10 cups of coffee.
